About Makayla May

The therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in determining the success of psychotherapy. Finding a therapist you genuinely connect with is a major part of your healing journey. This relationship fosters trust, understanding, acceptance, and a sense of safety to create the foundation for meaningful growth.

Since entering the counseling field, Makayla has had the privilege of providing therapy in diverse settings, including a hospital-based cancer treatment center, homeless shelter, residential treatment program, outpatient substance use center, and private practice. These experiences have allowed her to support individuals from all walks of life on their journey toward healing and personal growth.

Makayla specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating challenges related to emotional regulation, anxiety, self-esteem, and life transitions. She also provides therapy for individuals struggling with relationship difficulties, stress management, and personal growth. Makayla is passionate about creating a safe and collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and develop meaningful coping strategies.

Makayla earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

Makayla was born and raised in South Florida. In her free time, she embraces the beauty of the outdoors, walking scenic trails or relaxing at the beach. Makayla also finds joy in reading fiction and spending time with her family and friends including her cat, Charlee.
